Nona Jean (Butler) Galambos
September 3, 1935 - October 16, 2017
On October 16th, 2017 our beloved Mom and Nanny left us to join the love of her life Bud. She leaves behind her children, Lori and spouse Steve Glenn; Lynda and spouse Dennis Mohr; Nelson Galambos and spouse Tina; Nate Galambos and spouse Christy. Grandchildren Joseph, LeAnn, Nadine, Staci, Saleena, Zakery, Isabella, Liliana and Mario; 5 Great Grandchildren along with step grandchildren, Steph, Sam and Carley and with many other loved ones.
Born and raised in Vallejo, Nona met and married Bud on April 8th, 1955. They resided in Vallejo until 1965 when they moved to what was then known as Napa Junction, this is where they made their home and raised their children.
Mom took a lot of pride in her role as wife and mother (and Nanny). There was always a hot meal on the table when dad got home and by golly all of us kids had better have washed our hands and be ready to sit down together for dinner. Many wonderful memories were made at that dinner table. She loved cooking whether it was a delicious meal or baking pies. Everything that came out of her kitchen was good!
Mom also loved the holidays and made sure that our home represented every holiday that passed. As children, she took great care in making our Halloween costumes every year. Special sweets for Valentine’s Day, the perfect Easter Bunny. Her best and most favorite holiday though was Christmas, our home was transformed into a Christmas wonderland with a sense of hope and joy and expectation; we knew Santa was coming our way! She continued her holiday traditions, passing them on to her beloved grandchildren creating the same sense of wonder and anticipation for each holiday.
Napa Junction was her home, the Lake County Cabin was her escape. One week after school was out, she’d have the car packed full of groceries, clothes, dogs, cats, and the four of us kids and off we went to Lake County for the summer. The weeks spent there were full of playing in the lake, fun dinners and every evening she packed us kids along with friends into that old blue Willys Jeep and drove us around the lake and backroads singing silly songs. That cabin was her second favorite place to be and she turned it into a special place full of more memories for her family.
We could not have been blessed with a better home. She made sure that we were well taken care of and that we knew how much we were loved. She was home and wherever she was, that is where home was. Mom thank you for all the sacrifices you made to ensure that we always felt safe and loved.
Love you, bye…
