Virginia Mary Fry

Virginia Mary Fry May 28th, 1931 - February 28th, 2023 Virginia passed into her heavenly home on February 28th, 2023. She was born to Joseph Lee and Merle Cart Clement at Wonder, Oregon, May 28th, 1931. She retired from ATT after 21 years and also owned and operated a small business caring for the elderly for thirty years. Next to family she loved doing and caring for others. She had a deep and quiet faith in the Lord. She was married to William Fry for fifty nine years. Four years after he passed she married Frank Martin who passed five years later. Virginia was preceded in death by William and Frank, sisters Evelyne Merle Wittenmeir, Dorothy Louise Pettey and brothers Joseph Neil Clement and Harold Ace Clement. Virginia is survived by her children Gretchen Lee Polk (Joe), Christon Clement Fry (Mary), William Kent Fry (Terri), Kelly Deane West (Jon), twelve grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. The facts and accounts of Virginia's life are a shadow and seem an unworthy narrative to what is most treasured by those who loved her. Her beauty came from the 'why' behind all she did. The 'why' was shaped by the teachings of Jesus who when asked about the questionable company that He kept declared, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.' In humility she did not assume high position or wealth but instead, lived in service to the sick; and not simply the physically sick. She had the beautiful gift of seeing the hurting places of the soul. This was demonstrated in a plate of fried chicken, a hug, rent payment, a tuition deposit, a prison visit, a contagious laughter session, her presence ushering in life, at a bedside ushering in death, a fiercely protective advocate, cheerleader for the underdog, steady force on rocky terrain, and a home for so many. These were her frankincense and myrrh, serving as tangible gifts of grace lavished upon others. With intentional quietness in sacrifice she extended what was not earned or deserved. She was known in the purest sense as beloved Mom, Sister, Grandma and Gigi. As her physical family we are blessed to be beneficiaries of her extravagant acts of love. We joyfully share those titles of son, daughter, grandchild, and friend of Virginia with so many knowing that we have experienced her 'why' in life; a beautiful reflection of God's love for others. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service 11:00 am Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel, 2383 Napa-Vallejo Highway, Napa. Private Committal will be in Tulocay Cemetery, Napa.
