Amado Salinas Ramirez

Amado Salinas Ramirez, 91, born Aug. 18, 1930 in Mexico City, Mexico. He married Maria L. Ramirez in Mexico City on November 25, 1951. They lived in Mexico City where they started their family. They pursued a life moving north to Texas, soon after California. Settling in Winters, Calistoga, Yountville and finally Napa. He served in the Mexican Military, was a professional boxer and he was soccer goalkeeper for the teams he played with. His favorite soccer team "Chivas". He enjoyed singing in his band "ARROZ" where they performed in many of the Napa Valley events. Later Amado and his wife founded the first prayer and choir group, "El Buen Pastor" in the Napa Valley in which their 2 sons performed with them. He worked at Basalt for many years until retiring to take care of his loving wife. His joy was his family. He always made people laugh so they could have a good day. He was a very caring and loved man. He will truly be missed. He is survived by his children, Lydia Gutierrez, Magdalena Robles, Amado Ramirez Jr., Felix Ramirez, Lupe Ramirez, Lucrecia Ramirez as well as 21 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, March 11, 1 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Napa with committal following in Napa Valley Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday, March 10 at Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel, 2383 Napa-Vallejo Hwy. with the rosary recited at 7:00 PM.
