Mrs. Gloria Jean Russell Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gloria Jean Russell was born on August 25, 1930 in her grandparents’ home in Inverness Park, California. Her father Herbert Hartsook and mother Dolores Alcantara had an older daughter Barbara. At age 91, Gloria passed away peacefully Friday, May 6th, 2022. She is an eighth-generation Native Californian and was the Great-Great-Granddaughter to Rafael Garcia, who was awarded 2 land grants for parts of West Marin, Olema and Mendocino County. She was a graduate at Holy Names University in Oakland, California. Her strength, resilience, elegance was admired by those who knew her well and strong faith in God. She married at the Mission San Antonio de Padua, Monterey County, California to her husband John W. Russell and was married for 65 years. The two were each other’s life companions and friends. They traveled the world together and lived in Paris, France, and London when she was younger, and would often say, “Paris is my real home.” She is preceded in death by her husband John W. Russell, two Children, Patrick Russell and Michelle Kathleen Graham, and her sister Barbara Nelson. Gloria is survived by her Granddaughter Nicole Sorkin and Great-Granddaughter Sophia and nephews. The funeral will be held 11:00 am Friday, May 20th at Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel, 2383 Napa-Vallejo Hwy. in Napa with visitation one hour prior. Committal will be 1:00 pm Saturday in the Olema Cemetery.
