Richard Wayne Schieck Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dick passed away Thursday November 19, 2015 following an automobile accident. Dick's friends and family prefer to think of him as just setting out on a final road trip on the Highway to Heaven in one of the many classic vehicles that he prized so much. Dick had an eventful and productive life that included service in the U.S. Navy and then running the family business, Schieck Printing, until his retirement in 2007. Everyone who knew Dick appreciated him as a big guy with a big heart who especially enjoyed carousing and socializing with his many friends. Besides being a hard-working and successful businessman, Dick had another side. He had a free spirit and a playful, whimsical sense of humor that was instantly recognized by anyone who visited his home and garden where they were met by Dick's incredible menagerie of carved animals, trolls, bears, angels, twinkling lights, statues, games and mementoes from all over the world that he collected and displayed solely for their entertainment value. Dick often referred to himself, with tongue-in-cheek, as "the curmudgeon on the hill", but he was known for his generous spirit and although he had never had children of his own, he deeply enjoyed family activities with a wide circle of friends and relatives. And while we are all saddened because he was taken too soon, smile when you think of Dick because that's how he would want it. See him with music playing, wearing anything from an impeccable three-piece suit to a funny wig and a T-shirt with a saucy motto, his arms open in an invitation to join the party, a drink in his hand, a smile on his face and maybe even doing a few little dance steps. He will surely be missed by those who loved him. Dick is survived by his sister Sandy Schieck; his Aunt Marge Ernest; his cousins, Barb, Jerry, Anna, Elin, Andy, Katherine, Chris, and countless friends.
