Doris Adell Peabody-Nimmer August 14, 1933 – May 25, 2026 Doris Adell Peabody-Nimmer, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and friend, peacefully passed away on May 25, 2026, in Petaluma, California, at the age of 92. Born on August 14, 1933, in Los Angeles, California, Doris was the cherished daughter of George and Evelyn Peabody. She lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, service, and love for others. A devoted Seventh-day Adventist, Doris loved Jesus Christ and reflected His teachings through her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to helping those in need. Doris dedicated more than 40 years of her life to education, touching countless lives as a teacher and special education instructor. She earned both her Bachelor’s Degree and Master of Arts degree and was recognized as an honor student at Pacific Union College. Her passion for teaching was matched only by her desire to help others succeed and reach their fullest potential. Family was at the center of Doris’s life. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Charlene Nimmer, and a proud grandmother to Brandon, Justin, Steven, Andrea, Nathan, and Katelyn. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Lilly, McKenzie, Levi, Noah, Harley, Naomi, and Oliver, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, George and Evelyn Peabody, and is survived by her daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and dear friends, including Dorothy, Debbie, and Mick. Outside of her professional life, Doris found happiness in simple pleasures. She loved gardening, reading, cooking, canning fresh fruits from her orchards, and baking for family and friends. She had a passion for real estate, enjoyed traveling, and found peace in listening to gospel music. Her love for animals, especially cats, was well known by all who knew her. Those who knew Doris will remember her as a beautiful soul with a wonderful sense of humor, a compassionate listener, and a giver rather than a taker. She always put her family first and was known for opening her heart and helping hand to anyone in need. Her warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Doris’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched as a teacher, friend, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind and in the promise of being reunited with her again. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
