Mary Lu Hansen

Mary Lu Hansen (Marilyn Lulu) went to be with her lord and creator Sunday morning April 25th in Napa. She was born September 19th, 1934 in La Center, WA. to Floyd and Louise Johnson. After graduating from Kelso high she married and moved to Seattle Washington where her first child, Mary Ellen, was born. Following her husband's acceptance to the Mare Island nuclear sub program, they relocated to Vallejo California. Soon afterward she was blessed with the birth of twin daughters Suzan and Sally and a son Karl. They moved to Napa and added 2 more daughters Betsy and Patty (the littles). She enjoyed sewing, canning, reading romance novels, crossword puzzles, bowling, golf, serving as an acolyte at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Napa Garden club, oil painting, and drawing cartoons using her six kids as Characters. She created a mascot that was used for a new elementary school (El Centro) and a logo for Mt Baker Kidney Center, in addition to several cookbook covers for School fundraisers and friends. She even sold a few. She loved holidays especially Christmas and Halloween. You might remember the Witch on Dale Drive and her famous cackle. In the early 80s she moved to Bellingham WA. and worked with her younger sister at Mt Baker dialysis center. After years of a fulfilling career, she retired and traveled abroad and took road trips visiting her grandkids and her great grandkids. Later in life, following an illness diagnosis, Mary Lu moved back to live with her son Karl and Daughter-in-Law Becky who cared for her. We are very grateful for their loving care. Also, we would like to thank Collabria Care, hospice service. Mary, Karen, Mareli and Stephanie also for their care of our mother. Mom had a great time here on earth but eventually was unable to do the things she loved. She began missing her loving Family and close friends that were already with our Lord. Mary Lu is preceded in death by her daughter Betsy Hansen Samra, her parents Floyd and Louise Johnson. She is survived by her Sister Susan (Mark), daughters MaryEllen, Suzan (Tom), Sally, and Patty (Evan) and her son Karl (Becky). She will be missed by her Grandkids: Julie, Angela, Heidi, Wil, Ashley, Christiana, Tommy, Van, Maggie, Amanda, and Louis. Great Grandchildren: Connor, Justice, Ava, James, Jameson, Josiah, Vivian, Penelope, Jack, Margot, Kayden, and Madelyn. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Lewy Body Dementia Society. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Saturday, 7/17/21, 1-5 PM at the Elks Club in Napa.
