Maureen Bowman Ray

Maureen Bowman Ray, passed away on May 18, 2026 at Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center at the age of 73 surrounded by her family. Maureen lovingly known as Mom, Mo, Aunt Moe, Meantz and “Big Hooter”was born on March 20, 1953 in Vallejo, CA to Ray and Helen Bowman. Although Maureen was not born in Napa, it was the place she proudly called home. There was a strong possibility you may have seen her coaching and playing volleyball as well as playing softball for the Policettes. Maureen graduated from Siena High School in 1971. After graduating she worked for many years at The Napa Toy Store. Maureen married Robert Ray (Bob) on July 17, 1977. Maureen embraced her greatest role of being a mother to their three sons. Maureen devoted herself to her family, spending countless hours driving her sons to practices and games. Maureen created a home where everyone felt welcome. Friends and family knew that if they stopped by, there would always be laugher, baked goods and a delicious meal. Maureen worked for Napa Unified School District as a Special-Needs Driver for 15 years developing friendships throughout the bus yard. Maureen’s summers meant time at Lake Shasta where she made countless memories filled with boating and laughter. Maureen and her family vacationed at Lake Tahoe every summer since childhood. Those that spent time with her in Shasta and Tahoe know of the extensive stories and laughs that came from those trips. Maureen enjoying time at the Old Adobe and Trancas Steak House with her parents, strolling through Oxbow Public Market or attending a dinner at the Native Sons. Maureen and Bob enjoyed spending time and traveling with their friends Gene and Dorothy Eliason. Maureen is survived by her parents Ray and Helen Bowman, her husband Bob, her sons, Allen, Andy and Adam, her siblings, Nancy (John), John (Deb), Karen (Marty), Peter (Michelle), David (Beth); several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and great nephews whom she lovingly referred to as her “littles”. Though our hearts were not ready to say goodbye, we find comfort in knowing that Maureen’s love, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will live on in the countless memories she created and in the many lives she touched.
